Angelina Jolie: Shiloh Bonding Time!
-Just Jared

Angelina Jolie gets in some bonding time with a few of her kids — Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara — on the set of her new film, The Tourist, in Venice, Italy on Tuesday (March 16).

Angie and Shiloh were seen holding hands. What a cute mother-daughter pair!

It's been announced, as well, that Paul Bettany and Rufus Sewell have joined the cast of The Tourist! Under the cut are pictures from Just Jared of Angie and Shiloh, as well as some more pictures of Angelina (and Johnny Depp) filming.

Filming on the Venice, Italy set of Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's new movie "The Tourist" ground to a halt on Wednesday after hordes of fans turned up eager to catch a glimpse of the Hollywood superstars at work. The actors began production on the thriller, a remake of 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, in Paris, France in February before moving to Venice earlier this month to continue shooting. But according to TMZ.com, cameras had to stop rolling on Wednesday after huge crowds of devotees showed up at the location, forcing producers to wrap early due to safety concerns. Source

School funded by Angelina Jolie benefits girls in eastern Afghanistan
-UNHCR

TANGI, Afghanistan, March 15 (UNHCR) – There were celebrations in Tangi last week when a new primary school for girls was opened barely 18 months after Angelina Jolie visited the settlement for refugee returnees and expressed concern about the lack of basic education facilities for children.

The popular UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador provided US$75,000 to build the school in eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, which was inaugurated on Thursday in time for the start of the school year next Monday. Featuring eight classrooms, four administration buildings, a well and eight latrines, the school can accommodate up to 800 girls in two shifts.

It has been welcomed by parents who are reluctant, for cultural reasons, to send their daughters to schools used by boys. School classrooms built two years ago by the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) provide a primary education for more than 1,300 students, with boys attending in the morning and girls in the afternoon.

"Salt" Featurette with Angelina Jolie
-MakingOf.com

There's a quick little Featurette (it's probably less than a minute long, sadly) for Salt over at Makingof.com. It features a little bit from Angelina, a short clip of her filming, and some words from the director, Phillip Noyce.

"Salt" centers on Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who is looking at leaving the CIA to spend more time with her family. On her first wedding anniversary, she's accused of being a sleeper agent for the KGB; the movie is about finding out who she really is, and whether the accusations about her are true.

Enjoy!

Angelina Jolie out of 'Wanted 2': Follow-up project not a lock
-Entertainment Weekly

Sources confirm New York Magazine’s report that Angelina Jolie will not reprise her role as the highly trained assassin Fox in Wanted 2. The script for the sequel was already complete and the studio had hoped to get the film into production this year. It’s not clear now if they will proceed. While New York said Jolie has opted instead to do Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which was said to have moved to Warner Bros. after it lived at Universal for years, Jolie’s reps say the actress has passed on doing Gravity at Warner Bros. It’s not yet clear as to why and sources indicate the Gravity portion of the story was quite premature. Warner Bros. is still unable to confirm whether or not Gravity is even set up with the studio. Stay tuned..

Jon Voight Joins Angelina, Brad, and the Kids in Venice

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt enjoyed another afternoon out in Venice today with their kids Shiloh, Maddox, Pax and Zahara. They were joined by another relative as well, with Angelina's father Jon Voight going along for a water taxi ride. He and Angelina have famously had their problems in the past, but it looks like they've buried the hatchet for now. The Jolie-Pitts have been getting to know their temporary hometown with gelato runs for Shiloh, Pax, Maddox, and Zahara and an afternoon of exploring with Knox and Vivienne on a boat, so the kids already have a thing or two to show their visiting grandfather.

And another very small bit of news:
Shooting for ‘The Tourist’ starts on Tuesday

At Saturday’s Los Angeles press conference for “Alice in Wonderland” Johnny Depp was asked how the filming for “The Tourist” with Angelina Jolie is going:

“We haven’t started yet,” he replied.

“When do you start?” pressed the reporter.

“Tuesday I think,,” Depp said, sounding unsure, which made the conference crowd chuckle.

Burton, seated next to him, turned to his pal Depp and asked, “How do you think it’s going to go?” which no doubt would have been the reporter’s next question.

“I think it’s going to go just fine,” Depp said with a grin, adding, “I think there are going to be a lot of paparazzi“.

Jolie: Haitians 'finding ways to help themselves'
-CNN

Actress Angelina Jolie says she feels passionate about Haiti, whose "extraordinary" people are inspiring her with their resilience after the devastating earthquake one month ago.

During a visit to Haiti this week, she said that despite the terrible tragedy, Haitians are dignified and calm.

Jolie, a good will ambassador for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, said of the Haitians, "They're very inventive people, they're very strong people, and they're finding ways to help themselves."

"I think we have a moral duty to do what we can for any country that's suffering," she told CNN's Christiane Amanpour in an exclusive interview from Port-au-Prince.

"I think we have a very big obligation to the place. ... I'll continue to come back and I'll continue to express what I am learning."

Jolie expressed particular concern about the fate of Haiti's children -- the amputees, the homeless and the orphans -- and worried about the risk of child trafficking.

UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie meets Haitian quake survivors
-UNHCR

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, February 9 (UNHCR) – UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie arrived on Tuesday in the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, where she visited earthquake survivors and met aid workers from local and international organizations.

Jolie, who said she was in Haiti to "listen and to learn," visited medical centres, the UN mission and met with vulnerable children. On her arrival in the Haitian capital, Jolie was briefed by the United Nations Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General Edmond Mulet on the scale of the humanitarian operation to date and the challenges that remain.

She also visited a cash-for-work programme run by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in the Carrefour district of Port-au-Prince, which is enabling Haitians to earn an income as they help their country to recover. "To give people the ability to work towards their own future is so important at this time. It helps to restore their hope and respects their dignity," said Jolie.

The programme is assisting some 40,000 people with an aim of reaching more than 400,000. She commended the participants who told her they were happy to clean up their country and then sang her a song about Haitian pride.

This is a month old, but I just stumbled on it; I don't think you guys mind the late posting :)

interview: Angelina Jolie
-Madison Mag (11-1-10)

You have to work pretty hard to shock in Hollywood these days. Daniel Day-Lewis just about managed it when he upped sticks to go and work as a cobbler in Italy, and Robert Downey Jr may have come a close second for any number of things he did between 1996 and 2001. But to really shock? Well, you have to turn to 34-year-old Angelina Jolie for that.

It’s not that she means to. It just kind of happens. Again. And again. And all over again. Her 20s were a cavalcade of outrageous exploits and outré behaviour. There were drugs, sleeping with knives, two marriages (first to British actor Jonny Lee Miller in 1996 and then to Billy Bob Thornton in 2000) and two subsequent divorces, a spot of Sapphic indulgence with model-turned-actress Jenny Shimizu and, of course, that kiss with brother James Haven at the Oscars in 2000. Her most eyebrow-raising moments include writing Miller’s name in blood on the back of her shirt at their wedding, and buying Thornton his-and-hers cemetery plots for their one-year anniversary. Jolie said of the blood vials she and Thornton wore around their necks, “Some people think a big diamond is really pretty. My husband’s blood is the most beautiful thing in the world to me.”

Things went quiet for a while. In the dying days of her relationship with Thornton, she adopted a son, Maddox, from a Cambodian orphanage. Motherhood changed her. And then, of course, she met Brad Pitt. That’s right, the woman who once signed her will in her own blood went and fell in love with America’s Mr Apple Pie.

Since then, Angelina has single-handedly kept the world on its toes with her ever-changing, always-surprising life. She’s gone from single mother-of-one to co-parent of six; from curvy to rail thin; from a girl who grew up in the mansions of Hollywood as the daughter of actor Jon Voight, to a woman with homes (including a Cambodian shack) across the corners of the earth. She’s a humanitarian and a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, but designs jewellery with Pitt for luxurious British jewellers, Asprey (okay, with net profits going towards an Education Partnership for Children of Conflict).

There hasn’t been an actress who has dazzled and so consistently fascinated audiences since Elizabeth Taylor. There may never be another one in our time. Shocking she may be, but let’s be honest, would we really want it any other way?

How do you juggle being a mother and an A-list actor? )

I think the picture of her looks weird somehow; like it's been airbrushed or edited too much.

Angelina Jolie Expresses Support of SOS Children's Villages as Orphan Crisis Escalates in Haiti
-SOS USA

SOS Children's Villages is proud to count Angelina Jolie as one of its most dedicated supporters. As the orphan crisis unfolds in Haiti, SOS calls for all organizations to come together to make the right short-term and long-term decisions for children without parental care.

In this recent statement to the public, Angelina Jolie expressed her support of SOS Children's Villages:

"We are all wondering how to help the people of Haiti and how to reach the most vulnerable. With 500 villages in 132 countries, SOS offers a family-based village model that provides for the holistic needs of a child -- a caring parent, family, community, education and support.

SOS is the largest organization in the world that addresses the issue of children without parental care. SOS has been in Haiti for over three decades, now raising over 300 orphaned and abandoned children and caring for 4,000 more impoverished children and families to help prevent child abandonment.

That was before the earthquake. Now the needs for orphaned children are almost incalculable. SOS has been pulling resources together to provide temporary shelter for unaccompanied children, safe areas for mothers, and food, medicine, trauma counselling, and reunification programs for families and children.

SOS was there before the earthquake, and during it -- but most importantly, SOS will be there for many years to come -- to raise these children, in their communities until they are self sufficient adults.

As a long time supporter of SOS, I have visited many of these unique villages personally. I can vouch for their commitment and care for the children. As the Haiti situation unfolds, and we all focus in on ways to help these desperate children -- I ask you to please learn more about and consider supporting SOS Children's Villages."

-- Angelina Jolie

Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children's Villages - USA, said: "Having Ms. Jolie's endorsement means a great deal. She has seen our work over the years firsthand -- from Darfur refugee camps to rural areas of Africa and the Middle East. And her recent support of our foster care programs in the US means that Angelina understands the complex picture of children without parental care around the world.

Her support bolsters the global spirit of the SOS family. With over a half-century of experience, SOS is there before the tragedy, during the tragedy, and long after the cameras have gone home. So is Angelina Jolie."

Angelina Jolie: Apple Store Family Fun

Angelina Jolie totes around the Loewe “Amazona” Bag in Gold Suede while taking her four oldest kids — Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, Zahara, 5, and Shiloh, 3 — to the Apple Store on Sunday (January 10) at Fashion Square Shopping Center in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

“One of the store’s employees helped Angelina pick out an iPod Touch for Maddox,” a spywitness tells JustJared.com. “The other children played on one of the kiddie computers while their bodyguard watched them.”

After picking up Mad’s iPod, the whole Jolie-Pitt crew visited the Disney store.

And a small bit of extra news:

Angelina Jolie Will Be Scarpetta in Mystery Series Adaptation

The crime thriller will never die. It seems to still be an unstoppable subgenre with madlib fill-in-the-blank elements from at-odds detective partners to crooked cops, as well as socipathic serial killers to rapists. The combination of possibilities of these elements seem to be endless, and now we can add another crime thriller to the mix as THR's Risky Biz reports Angelina Jolie will take on the role of medical examiner Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the main character of a still running 17-novel mystery series from author Patricia Cornwell. The medical examiner often finds herself caught up in mind-boggling and even dangerous criminal mysteries.

Writer Kerry Williamson will adapt the story from the entire world and cast of characters in Cornwell's series rather than just one individual title. The hope is to launch a potential franchise with so much source material at filmmaker's fingertips. No word on who will direct the Scarpetta film, but we've got some time to kill since Williamson has only just been hired to write the script. Why don't we just give Jolie a guest spot on "CSI: Miami," let her spout a few one-liners while taking off some sunglasses, and call it a day?

In all seriousness though, these crime mysteries do have the potential to be suspenseful and fun, especially if viewers are kept out of the loop and left to uncover the mystery with our protagonist. Personally, I have a jaded attitude when it comes to crime thrillers because there's so many of them in movies and on TV (how many "Law & Order" or "CSI" shows do we need?). And I'm always intrigued as to just how crime scene investigators and medical examiners are the ones who find themselves in the most heated action, and not the on-duty police officers or detectives themselves. But if anyone can carry a series like this, it's Jolie.

Brad and Angelina Donate $1 Million to Haiti Quake Relief
-People Magazine

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's foundation is contributing $1 million to the emergency medical operation responding to the devastating 7.0-magnitude quake in Haiti.

"It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades," says Jolie.

Adds Pitt: "We understand the first response is critical to serve the immediate needs of countless people who are now displaced from their homes, are suffering trauma, and most require urgent care."

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation is donating the funds to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontiéres, whose three hospitals in Port-au-Prince were severely damaged, forcing the staff to work out of open-air hospitals.

And a second little bit of news:

Director returns to Jolie/Depp movie
Angelina Jolie's latest film project opposite Johnny Depp is back on track after the director returned to helm "The Tourist" just months after quitting the production. Oscar-winning German moviemaker Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck was lined up to take charge of the picture, which will see Jolie play an Interpol agent opposite the Hollywood hunk, but walked away late last year throwing the project into jeopardy.

But the director, who reportedly cited creative differences with studio bosses for his decision to quit, is now back on board, according to Variety.com.

The movie has faced an uncertain future over the last year after a string of stars dropped out - Jolie replaced Charlize Theron and Depp joined after Tom Cruise quit. The thriller, a remake of 2005 French film "Anthony Zimmer," is now scheduled to begin shooting this spring.

Brangelina Skipping the Golden Globes
-E! Online

Golden Globes presenter Jennifer Aniston can breathe easy—there will be no showdown between her, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at this year's awards show.

Angie's stylist, Jen Rade, broke the tragic news to us—Brangelina is sitting out the red carpet!—at last night's Audi party. Brad's manager also confirmed this morning that he won't attend, although his movie Inglorious Basterds is nominated for an award.

But wait...

Brad and Quentin Tarantino are BFFs! You'd think they'd show up for support? Unless the golden couple is trying to avoid a redux of last year's Oscars, when Jen presented and they were seated directly in front of her? Or maybe Angie's just busy working on Salt reshoots in NYC and taking her adorable brood to Broadway shows?

The couple may be "over" Hollywood, but we're not over them. Hope to see you two for Oscars!

I just think that they'd probably rather stay home and spend time as a family than go to an awards show! But, of course, people are going to complain either way. If they go, they're terrible parents for not spending time with the kids; if they don't go, they're smug and self-righteous.
